AHWIA ZONAL COUNCIL

Ahwia Zonal Council is one of the six (6) Zonal Councils in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly (SWMA). It shares boundaries with Dwinase Zonal Council to North and, Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai to the South, south east and Wiawso Zonal Council to the west.

The 2010PHC estimated the population of the Zonal Council as 12,184 with 1,962 houses and 2,523 households, Male population is 5,967 and Female population of 6,220. Using the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality population growth rate of 1.8%, it is estimated that the 2020 population of the Zonal Council would stand at 12,403.

The Zonal Council has four (4) Electoral areas namely:

• Ewiase

• Ahwia

• Paboase

• Aboanidua

Some communities within the area include: Ntrentreso, Aboanidua, Bedii, Atiakrom, AgonasafuPaboase, Akoti, LawelKrom, Kwame-Anninkrom, Grumakrom, Project, AkorakanAhwiaa, Penakrom, Appiakrom, NyameBekyere, and Kyeboso. The Zonal Council have some commercial activities such as health centers, and educational centers. There are major roads running through the Zonal Council to Asafo, Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.
