NDPC PRAISES SWMA FOR CONSISTENT SUBMISSION OF HIGH-QUALITY ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORTS

The Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit (MPCU) of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly on 31st January 2025 held a meeting with officials from the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) to discuss best practices in development planning and reporting.

The meeting, held at the Municipal Assembly Hall, was convened to recognize the Assembly’s consistent submission of high-quality Annual Progress Reports (APR). The Assembly’s 2023 APR was ranked among the top five in the country, prompting the NDPC to collaborate with the Assembly to learn from its successes in the implementation and reporting of district development programs and projects.

The Municipal Planning Officer (MPO) welcomed participants on behalf of the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD). He emphasized that the Assembly’s achievements in reporting were a testament to its commitment to effective planning and execution under the Agenda for Jobs II: Creating Prosperity and Equal Opportunity for All.

Mr. Isaack Kwesi Eweh, representing the NDPC, conveyed greetings from NDPC Director General, Dr. Eric Akobeng, and acknowledged the Assembly’s dedication to development planning and accountability. He explained that under the National Development Planning System Act, 1994 (Act 480), the NDPC is mandated to guide Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in preparing their District Medium-Term Development Plans (DMTDPs), Annual Action Plans (AAPs), and Annual Progress Reports (APRs).

Mr. Eweh further highlighted that the NDPC identified a few outstanding MMDAs excelling in their planning and reporting. The purpose of the meeting was to learn from SWMA’s best practices and provide further guidance on preparing the 2024 APR.

The meeting served as a platform for knowledge-sharing and capacity-building, ensuring that the Assembly remains at the forefront of effective planning and development reporting in Ghana.
