On Monday, August 19, 2024, the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly initiated its 90th cycle of Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) payments, distributing funds to 440 households across 38 communities within the Municipality. The payment process, which began earlier this week, is expected to conclude today, Friday, August 23, 2024.
The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development is overseeing the disbursements, which have recently been increased to provide enhanced support to beneficiaries. The updated payment structure is as follows:
One eligible member household: GH₵256.00
Two eligible members: GH₵304.00
Three eligible members: GH₵352.00
Four or more eligible members: GH₵424.00
This initiative is designed to support low-income households, with the increased payment amounts expected to offer more substantial assistance to those in need. The LEAP program remains a vital component of the Assembly's ongoing efforts to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life for vulnerable populations in the Municipality.
