The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 18th July, 2024, convened key Heads of Departments and Units at the MCE’s office to assess their readiness for the impending 2023 assessment of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP).
The Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme, funded by the World Bank, is designed to support secondary cities in improving urban management and service delivery, promoting local economic development, and enhancing resilience to climate change. Assembly's participation in this programme underscores its commitment to sustainable urban development and improved quality of life for its inhabitants.
This initiative, which aims to enhance urban infrastructure and service delivery in selected Assembly's across Ghana, will evaluate Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly’s progress and effectiveness in implementing the programme’s objectives.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Fred B. Kpodo emphasized the importance of this assessment, stating, "The GSCSP is critical for the development of our Municipality. It provides us with the resources and framework to improve the living conditions of our residents. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards set by the programme."
As the assessment date approaches, the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly remains optimistic and dedicated to showcasing the positive impacts of the GSCSP in the Municipality. The results of the assessment will not only highlight the achievements but also identify areas for further improvement and investment.
