The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly held its 3rd Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the 3rd Session of the 7th Assembly on Friday, 28th October, 2022 at the Municipal Assembly Hall.
The Presiding Member, Hon. Martha Awuah, welcomed Hon. Assembly members and technocrats to the meeting. She commended them for honoring the invitation for the meeting. The Presiding Member entreated honorable members to cooperate and participate fully in all discussions so as to engender a successful meeting.
Section 28 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), requires the Municipal Chief Executive to present his Sessional Address quarterly and report on the performance of the functions of the Executive Committee, the Office of the Municipal Chief Executive as well as the state of the Municipality to the Municipal Assembly at the beginning of each session.
In his presentation, he first and foremost, expressed his sincere gratitude to all Honorable Members and technocrats for playing an integral role in making remarkable achievements during his tenure as MCE to the Sefwi Wiawso Assembly. He further welcomes everyone to the 3rd Ordinary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the 7th Assembly of Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly.
Hon. Louis Owusu-Agyepong touched on sensitive areas and projects of the Assembly for the period under review.
He announced to the House that the Municipality has been relatively calm and commended the security fraternity for working tirelessly in ensuring the safety of the people.
He also expressed his profound gratitude for participating in the 38th Farmers Day Celebration held at Asawinso in conjunction with the Regional Coordinating council ( RCC).
He also commended Management of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly as the Assembly was placed 21st in the 2021 District Performance and Assessment Tool (DPAT) of all the MMDAs across the country. He went ahead to expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Municipal Coordinating Director and his hardworking staff for such a great achievement.
The Municipal Chief Executive ended his speech by indicating that the Assembly has received funding from the Central Government to reconstruct and expand the Sefwi Wiawso and Amafie Water Systems.
After the MCE’s Sessional Address, Hon. Martha Awuah thanked the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive and Municipal Coordinating Director for their continuous support to Hon. Members.
She again thanked the entire Assembly fraternity for their enormous contributions towards the development of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly.
She also entreated Members to be united and fight for a common objective. Unity is strength, she added.
The meeting came to a close at 2:10 pm with a closing prayer.
